ABRACADIA: STORY KNIFE & GUN |
|
Civilisation is at a crossroads and there is no turning back. Young people are NOT stupid; they know the adults and institutions charged with their nurture and care are on the edge. (What they often do not know is that humanity has always been on the edge, striving to endure, something we would all do well to remember in these trying times.) And actually they would rather be enabled to be part of the solution than be left to flounder and become part of the problem.
What steps can schools and youth groups take towards formulating practice that will really grasp the nettle of gang-culture and uproot it? They should consult with government agencies e.g. the Youth Justice Board and Youth Offending Teams. The police can be useful too; they certainly have the experience but can lack an educationist understanding of how to apply it in a school context. There are some other steps you can take that might have positive results beyond what these sources can offer.
You have already taken the first such step just by reading and exploring this website. Step 2: contact Abracadia and together we can shape steps 3 and 4, tailoring a curriculum and/or training package that suits your specific needs.
The need for action has never been greater, nor the margin for error smaller. There’s a job needs doing and Abracadia can help, what’s to wait for? It’s way too hot already and people are dying. Procrastinate tomorrow (or not); but let’s get on with it today. Contact Abracadia. |

Gang violence combines with terrorism, global warming and increasing inequalities between rich and poor to create a climate of overwhelming stress for young people, posing increasing challenges for social cohesion. Knife crime tears at the heart of youth culture, gun crime pumps searing holes through it. Childhood lies bleeding on the floor, twitching, life force flickering, waiting for the emergency services: Teachers, learning mentors, youth workers, local government advisors, youth offending teams, police … and ABRACADIA. |
